Compact Plant Stand
A brief exploration of how to save space while owning a variety of plants.
Problem
Apartments have
little space for plants:​

Plants need a lot of natural sunlight which
is limited in apartments.

People have many plants that need to be exposed to sunlight in a small space.

Floors need to be decluttered in
small living spaces.
​
Inspiration
This plant stand needs to be convenient for the user.
Design Goals
Sturdy
Water Resistant
Compact
The stand will not fall over and can hold numerous plants at one time.
To protect the wood from
the elements, the stand must
be water resistant.
It can be put in a high lit area without being in the way of the user.
Affordable
A low cost makes it more fiscally appealing to the user.
Ideation
CAD Models
Fusion models were used in order to experiment with proportions and measurements.
Orthographic views were followed throughout the making process.
Constructing
Strong, pale wood was used in order to keep the stand light and keep with the theme of the room.
A polyurethane finish was coated on to ensure spills from watering plants would not ruin the wood.
An asymmetrical set up helps distribute natural light to all plants while allowing access when watering.
