Comfort in Design
Problem Statement
How can Furniture Elevate a Room?
Many apartments are small, odd shaped, and bland. In numerous young renter’s rooms there are not many places to sit, do work, or talk to visitors, which makes the spaces appear cold and unwelcoming.

Bringing unique furniture into a room can create a
better experience for the renter and make them happier with their living situation. Integrating
different colors can elevate a room by bringing
emotions such as joy and comfort into the space.
What is Comfort?
Comfort is having a sense of physical or psychological ease.
Material
Smooth wood, soft fabric, firm seats with a bit of give can all make the body feel at ease.
Welcoming
Open designs, color, places to put a cup of coffee, and balance are all welcoming features of furniture.
Light
Studies have shown that the quality of light can make people feel
more comfortable.

hanging out in my room and they
sit on my bed, unfortunately that’s
the only place to sit.”
